A Tidbit

I am debating on whether or not to buy a Roomba. They are going on sale for super cheap next week. I fear the Roomba might terrify Yoshi. I also am afraid that Dexter will terrify the Roomba AND Yoshi. However, I hate vacuuming so my selfish desires might win out.

What do you think?

I love my Roomba but I might not recommend it for carpet. For hard floors it kicks ASS. I have two cats, one avoids it and the other is fascinated by it. FYI: A 17lb cat is too heavy to ride it. Yes, we tried.

Although I am glad there are Roomba's out there - it might freak your cats out so much that you would have to consider family therapy with them.

I have a carpeted apartment, three cats, and a Roomba. The cats aren't terrified of the Roomba, even the high strung Siamese. They're generally a little morbidly fascinated, if anything. The Roomba does pretty well on the carpet, with the caveat that you clean the brushes after each use. In short: go for it! It has dramatically improved our lives and dramatically reduced the amount of cat hair on our floors.

If you get yourself a reliable Roomba, you should be very pleased. We had to send our first one back but the replacement is working wonderfully on our hardwood floors. With two extra-furry dogs and three cats, we need all the help we can get. Like Anonymous says, though, you do need to clean it after every use.

I'd get one in a heartbeat.

We have joked before about it chasing our pets around the house if we bought one. Though in her dotage Angel has taken to attacking the cannister vac hose if I don't put her in our bedroom first...

Last summer she went after a lawnmower wheel!

Maybe she and Yoshi are related?

Nice to find you here again!

Saturday Night Live has a hilarious skit about the Roomba. It's all I can think about right now.

I had a Roomba briefly (until it broke and I exchanged it for a heftier vacuum). I didn't necessarily dislike it, but I have a funny story about SOMEONE ELSE'S Roomba:

My ex-boyfriend had one and swore by it. I think he even had it on a timer for a while... it would start vacuuming while he was gone during the day and be in its little home at night. Anyway, his cat sometimes took to crapping right in front of the litter box, usually when he was annoyed about something, and when Casey came home one day the Roomba was vacuuming its little ass off while pushing/smearing a big piece of cat crap all over the house.

So gross.

I don't think that would happen to you. Maybe.

I've never seen one in person. But I like the video with the cat that rides it.

I have to admit, the Roomba has "sweeeet" written all over it. I'm thinking the cats would adapt. Plus it will give you hours of YouTube posting material!
