Too Much of a Good Thing

Can there be too many raisins in your raisin bran?

Yes. Yes, there can.

VonK, normally I prefer to avoid controversy in the blogosphere. For example, I've not made one single comment about Don Imus' racist remark about the Rutger's women's basketball team. And the bloggers HAVE been going on about this (and rightly so). But, now I will stick my neck out, take a stand, and say, no. No, you can never have too many raisins in your raisin bran. I'm just sayin'...

I love the raisins, too. They have fiber, so it's fair.

I love raisins too but there were more raisins than bran. I didn't think it was possible but I have to admit I was experiencing raisin overload.

Bottom of the box, eh? That's where all the raisins hide out, only dropping into your bowl when the box is finally empty. I buy bran flakes AND raisin bran, just for such occasions, and when the raisin bran gets too raisinny, I add bran. One box of flakes will handle about 4 boxes of RB.

I swear, my comment was going to be, word for word, "Bottom of the box, eh?" (Yes, I really was going to say "eh" even though I'm not Canadian.)

I'm a little creeped out by eclectic now. But in a good way.

Cool bowl.

there's more raisins than bran! Maybe thats why it isn't called "Bran Rasin". Love your triangle bowl!

The freaky part is that it is a newly opened box. This is the raisin to bran ratio at the top of the box. I cannot even imagine how raisin dense the bottom will be. I'll have to get a plain bran box to dilute it. Sheesh.

It depends if it is the good name brand raisin bran with the nice soft raisins, or the cheap-o, store brand raisin bran with the hard little turds for raisins that get stuck in your teeth.

I buy brain flakes and raisins separately, and can regulate the precise raisin/ballast ratio (oh, come on - remember when your parents would break down and buy the Variety Pack, and the good cereals like Frosted Flakes and Sugar Pops would go first, finally leaving that lonely, sad box of Bran Flakes? Ballast).

Best part of that? You can choose your favourite type of raisin - Sultana or Thompson or any other variety. AND ... none of the added sugar that they lace the Two Scoops type of Raisin Bran with. AND ... cheaper.

It occurs to me I may be giving a breakfast cereal WAY too much thought.

I have in the past bought my bran and raisins seperately but this box was on sale and I got sucked in. Who knew there would be so much raisin action? Usually it goes to too much ballast.

Oh yeah! My folks only ever bought the Variety Paks when we went on holiday to a cabin/motel with kitchenette thingy. So meaning maybe once every year or two. Fruit Loops were my fave followed by Frosted Flakes. The little boxes always leaked milk though.

When I make granola, it seems that there are more raisins at the top than there are at the bottom.

Of course, that's why Ichabod said,
Why do you think they call them raisin's?"

So that is where all the raisins from my box were :-)

Well seeing as I hate raisins, even one is too much for me, but that looks like WAY too much even for someone who likes those shrivled wrinkled dehydrated things! Eeek :)

I want to know where you buy your raisin bran! I never get that many raisins. EVER! I love the raisins. I have to ration them to make sure each spoonful has at least one raisin.
