Random Thoughts, Updates and a Contest

-I have decided I have a crush on Anderson Cooper. He is smart, passionate about what he does, dashingly handsome and totally gay. Typical guy I fall for. I knew it was lurve when I saw him on CNN interviewing the governor (I think) of Louisiana during the first days of Hurricane Katrina. She was blah blah blahing some platitude about how help was coming and he, right on the air, ripped her a new asshole. Did anybody see it? Anderson was obviously physically exhausted and emotionally distraught and very PISSED OFF and totally gave her shit about how people were, um, DYING on the streets while politicians passed the buck. It was beautiful and from that moment on my heart was his.

-I watched for the second time the fabulous Canadian documentary ‘The Corporation'. This little film is totally mind blowing and you will never shop at The Gap, drink Coke/Pepsi, watch Fox, or eat McDonalds with an easy mind ever again. HIGHLY recommend it.

-On a serious note I grew myself some eggs and tracked down and phoned my recently deceased ex-boyfriend’s sister. She was very kind and it turns out he died in a motorcycle accident. Totally not his fault as a van pulled out in front of him. So there you go. I have gotten over the shock and feel good about being able to express my sympathy to the family. I gave her my number in case my ex-friend (the wife) wants to talk to me. I doubt that will happen but I wanted to show that I was a big girl and not harboring any grudges. Never mind that I was super nervous and literally shaking the whole time I was on the phone.

-I got a wonderful painting as a gift from my cousin the other day and I just hung it in its new frame on my wall tonight. It is the coolest painting I have ever seen and I totally cherish it.

AND HERE IS THE CONTEST!!!

The first person who can identify the artist of my new painting will be sent a really cool prize. I am not going to tell you what the prize is as it is really too cool to talk about but rest assured, you will not regret expending the energy to type in a guess.

Did you see Anderson on Oprah today? I like that his parents made him earn his own money instead of just handing him everything.

My guess on the painting: Henry Rollins.

I'd never dare to guess, but I love it!

Anderson seems like someone you could bring home to dinner...

My guess: your cousin is the artist.

I think it's great that you made contact. You are so right, you are showing that you are willing to show compassion even given what has happened in the past.

Yes, Anderson Cooper... I believe it was THE MOLE that did it for me. Then I realized he was a real journalist. Huh.

I am so proud to be your friend :)

Wow. Impressive that you could make contact and leave your number. you are a good person my friend.

Besides cancer, we have something else in common. I totally dig Anderson Cooper and ALWAYS fall for that same type.

We must be related. Were we separated at birth?

Have a great day!

And the painting is quite nice. Eric Carlisle?

I think the painting was done by Gary Busey.

I also adore Anderson Cooper and though I saw alot of him when he was broadcasting from LA, I think I missed the asshole-ripping. Darn...
I'm also very partial to Stephen Colbert. Rwwwwwrrrrrrrr..........Him and Jon Stewart. oooo baby The evening is not complete without me watching them back-to-back. *fans self*

That was wonderful that you got in touch with the family and offered your sympathies and condolences. Very mature and caring. :)

Did Yoshi paint it?

So glad you found out how your ex died. That should help close things up for you.

One question, though? Does your prize include Rice-a-Roni or assless chaps?

Oops! I mean, Eric Carle, the children's book author/illustrator. Gaah! My daughter busted me, and I had the audacity to argue with her, so certain was I.

I don't really like the painting because there aren't any animals in it.The white glow in the middle of the centre flower is good though.
Anyways, my guess is Anderson Cooper..

Okay, I'll wager a guess....I'm guessing it was either your cousin's child...

...or that guy who's been in the news recently, the one who paints with his penis.

*giggle*

Love and hugs to you, Kranki.

Ladybugs comment made me spit my water out!! OMG!

You are one classy lady- I'm so proud of you for calling and making yourself available.

My guess was already taken...cousins child. That would be your 2nd cousin.

Sheryl stole my guess! Or really, I am just clueless and also not very quick with the guessing.

And, I was honestly ultra surprised to see Anderson Cooper gracing Vanity Fair's cover. I couldn't remember the last time I had seen a male adorn that cover. Maybe I don't read Vanity Fair enough (or really, at all), but I thought it was pretty awesome. And yeah, he looked pretty yummy. ; )

I was just going to tell you that he's in Vanity Fair! But kerri beat me to it. But, I have the magazine and will mail you the article.

Smooches!

Um yeah. I'm right with you there on the whole Anderson Cooper crush. But I was totally out of the loop. The whole gay thing? No idea. Now I'm crushed in a whole new way. *sigh* Typical for me. I think this is the third gay man I've fallen for since the separation from my husband. (which I'm not discussing on the blog, btw...) *whimper*
