Planning For The Future

I didn’t think it could be possible but my New Years Eve was far mellower than even I could have expected. I know for certain there was more energy and hijinks flowing at the local senior home than at my place.

The Plan-

Me, the cat, an indecent amount of Chinese take-out, uplifting videos and a comfy couch…

The Reality-

Me, the cat, a commercial filled TV movie, a comfy couch and a whole lot of unpleasant side effects from the new antidepressant I started taking.

You see, in an effort to pick myself up emotionally after the whole cancer debacle I started a fancy new medication (Cipralex [or Lexapro for you US folks]) which has resulted in some pretty vile nausea and a general zoned out feeling. I am giving it some time and allowing my body to acclimatize but she be a bitch so far. My ass is being kicked thoroughly. Euphoria remains elusive.

So far 2007 is not EXACTLY what I expected but I am counting on things improving soon.

PS-I watched Erin Brockovich on TV and quite enjoyed watching the common folk sticking it to The Man.

Didn't ya know that 2007 is the year of Kranki? Favorite line from Erin Brockovich, "Watch it Krispy Kreme!!!!" And partying in the new year is over rated. Your New Year's Eve sounds a lot like my idea of a good time!!! It's way better than those drunken idiotic people in Times Square peeing themselves in those police erected security fences!!

um i love Lexapro - for me, it had the least amount of side effects. Hang in there.

Erin Brockovich is one of my favorite movies. I like the part where she finishes the big fight and yells "Adrianne"..Oh wait that's from Rocky..I've never seen that Erin movie..

The meds sound great. I'm sure you will get used to throwing up and feeling zoned out..
Hope you don't need the meds for long..

You know I'm a big fan of better living through pharmaceuticals (can you see the sarcasm dripping there?). Ha! Actually, I'm a big fan of doing what it takes, and if that means meds: meds it is. My Wellbutrin keeps me going every day, and if I didn't have it...

Happy New Year!

You know that old joke . . . "Why do you keep banging your head against the wall?" "Because it feels so good when I quit." Maybe that's what it is with this drug.

I hope it gets settled soon so you start feeling better. On to euphoria!

Happy New Year!

Hope you're feeling better.

Erin Brockovich is my favorite movie. I love the part in the fancy attorney office where Erin says she got signatures for the arbitration by performing sexual favors. I'm pretty sure I about fell out of my seat in the movie theater the first time I heard that.

You picked a fun movie to watch. I'm sorry the rest of your evening wasn't quite so enjoyable. Here's to the rest of year getting better and better.

Erin Brockovich is a kick ass film. How Julia Roberts' push up bra didn't win any awards is beyond me.

I hope the euphoria is on it's way...

Happy New Year, Kranki. 2007 is on strict orders from me to treat you like the goddess you are.

I'm on 20 mgs of Lexapro. My first few days on it (10 mg at the time, two years ago) were nauseated/blurry ones. But, I love the shit now. Give it a few weeks.

Antidepressants are a bitch to start, are they not? Hopefully the unpleasantness will be replaced with a relieved "Aaaaaahhhhhhhh..." very, very soon.

I'm on Lexapro--it took a while for me to adjust, but once I did, it's been a good thing, aside from the fact that my ability to swallow pills has pretty well disappeared.

May things "settle in" just the way you'd like!

That has to be a much better way to go than caffeine and Monster Lo-Carb...you won't have the wicked crash when they wear off!

And somehow the idea of such a nice thing being kicked bothers me!
