Poochie Lulu

Well, today is my birthday. I am 38 years old. And a scary indication of how old I am getting is that I forgot for about the first 30 minutes of the day that it was anything but a boring old Thursday. Forgetting my phone number and sitting in McDonalds nursing a single coffee for 6 hours is surely not far behind.

I spent my day primarily on the road running errands. Not just boring old errands like picking up dry cleaning or buying oven cleaner. We are talking about fun errands like buying rubber and squeaky toys and wildly trendy and appropriately expensive puppy-yuppy supplies for my soon to arrive new urban pooch.

Nine years ago I was given a fabulous gift for my birthday. I got Yoshi. Not actually on the day but a few months later once she had got her shit together and was born and weaned. I think it was mid May when I brought her home. And I have been firmly under her paw ever since.

So on Sunday I am driving down to Washington State to pick up Lulu. My birthday gift to myself. She is a whole lot of something including possibly dachshund and who knows what else. Frankly, she looks like she has been assembled from spare dog parts.

I love her already.

Wildly emotional and excessively soppy photo essay to come on Monday.

Happy birthday! And I think you get free coffee refills at McDonalds, so that's something to look forward to.

I thought about you today--happy birthday! Your card is currently on our kitchen table, addressed but awaiting stampage. Hopefully I'll get it in the mail to you before you turn 39!

So excited about little Lulu--she's one lucky pooch to get to live with you and Ms. Yoshi. Congratulations!

Hippo birdie, two ewes! :) Congratulations on your new pupper!! Hope that Lulu and Yoshi are soon fast friends and that the housetraining goes well.

If it's in the budget, you might try a dog litter box - they have them at PetsMart and PetCo and other pet supply places. It's a different type of litter than cat litter, and the box is bigger, but it's the same concept. If you start right away, you might find that Lulu takes to the litter box - and Yoshi might help train her for you....

Happy Birthday!!! How exciting about Lulu.

Now, in order to get Yoshi prepared you should jump all over her and stick your face in her face at unexpected times. By the time Lulu arrives Yoshi will probably be relieved. ;-)

Congrats! You'll dig the unconditional love that a dog gives. It's pretty cool. And, Happy Birthday. I'll be exactly ten years younger than you on the 8th. :)

Sorry to have Saturday slip up on me before I got here! The Happiest of belated Birthdays to you, and congratulations on adopting Lulu! My grandparents had a "thing" for dachsund mixes, and everyone of them was cute and lovable.

I can't think of a better home for anyone than yours!

Enjoy!
