Round 2 - Day 2

Day 2 of Second Chemofication

Not at bad day. Snoozing galore and even a little snack around midday. Went down fine, wanted to come up again but I would let it. Kranki=1. Hurlage=0. I am feeling better overall this round which bolsters my spirits a great deal. Just maybe this will get easier as time goes on.

The portacath hardly hurts at all now although there is a delightful yellow bruise all around it. And my hair is starting to fall out with a vengeance. I am worse than the damned cat. I have to de-hair my pillow several times a day with one of those sticky rollers. Works great. Still a little creepy though.

See, I have nothing exciting to tell you but no news is good news, right. Just hanging in there and listening to my body.

Why don’t you all tell me what fun you had this weekend. I am living vicariously through you!

I got up this morning and bathed in an essence of Belgian wild flowers. Then I had Ferguson my butler fetch me a box of chocolate truffles at Horst and Helga's bakery. What a cute little Bavarian couple they are and they're always so kind. I then flew to London for tea with the queen.

what I really did?

Got up at noon like the lazy bum that I am. Went out and stared lovingly at the deli where I always get my weekend breakfast but didn't because I know my body can do without the by-pass surgery I'll probably need in about 10 years. Went for a satisfying "live to be 100" salad with just a splash of lemon juice on it to give it some character and make me feel less like one of them rabbits on "Watership Down". I grabbed some Tim Hortons coffee and went back home, stared at my ceiling for a while and then cleaned the litterbox. Damn stinky cats, maybe I should start feeding THEM salad.

Please stop laughing at me. It isn't kind.

Friday night, our neighbors taught us how to play Pinochle. Today we shipped birthday gifts to the nieces and nephew (only one month late!), ran errands, and worked in the garden. I have the sunburn to prove it.

So glad to hear this round is going better. The hair thing is depressing, no? Get the Mom Poo to shave it down to the scalp, Kojak style. Then if you're up for it, post a pic of yourself with a lollipop.

Hang in there!

Hang in there!!!

I have no life this weekend...came down with a cold on cince de mayo, which has now turned into pneumonia. BLAH! But no complaints here...just need to rest and take care of myself. Nothing, compared to chemo, huh?

Take care.

Good Lord, don't live vicariously through me,I'm living vicariously through dang cold! Essence of Belgian wildflowers indeed!

Still exhausted from recent escapades, thought I would indulge in a therapeutic lie-in. Stayed up very late reading, about 1:30a.m.ish. Peacefully minding my own business when said lie-in was rudely interupted at the ungodly hour of 8:07 a.m. by Daughter #1 needing a ride to work, as the bus had not shown up. Of course Daughter #1 works far enough away as to almost be in a different time zone. Well not quite, but it is a different city. Then had to turn around and drive back to get Daughter #2 to take her to a workshop with a guest conductor. Apparently one of the top three in the country. Who knew? Oh, also in said different city. It seems "Mother" is from a latin root word meaning chauffer. Fortunately, did all the driving in the new car, which was fun.

Returned home to discover the house reeks like dog-pee. Someone is not very happy that Daddy is away!

The good news today was that my darling Kranki is having a better time with round two. Earns you a big Woohoo! The three of us are doing "the wave" with our matching pink bracelets. We look goofy, but intent is everything.

Glad to hear you have eaten!!!!! When you manage to catch your breath from the vicarious thrill ride, snooze on lass. It's what I would be doing...

Friday: did nothing extra-ordinary (well, recovered from the drinks-and-eats party I had for some neighbor chickadees)

Saturday: had a lovely, quiet day. Did lots of laundry, read quite a bit...the house was already immaculate from getting ready for the drinks-and-eats party, so really didn't have much to do. Ran some errands.

THEN, Sat. night, DH and I had our fancy-schmancy dinner! Yay! WONDERFUL food, but I won't discuss it in case you're feeling pukey.

Today: going to some open houses with a friend who has three small children, hence ME going with her instead of her husband. Then I shall run more errands and do more laundry (I swear, how can I have SO many clothes and yet have NOTHING to wear??)

Glad you're doing better this time!

((hugs))

I put new NON-OPERA music in my radio blog at "What's Opera, Doc?", folks. Singer-songwriters mostly, one show tune, and some a capella. Kranki sent an email that sounded like she needed it. (btw, a CD mix is on the way) The Liz Larin tune is for you, vonK.

I kept waiting to do something REAL exciting to tell you about, but . . . hasn't happened yet.
After I got rid of my headache on Friday, I was way behind with household chores, which I often do on Friday. On Saturday, I took LG to her hip-hop dance class, did some housework, then took her to a friend's house for a sleepover, while Jif and I went downtown to meet lots of his family to celebrate his parents' birthdays. We went to Roy's, and I will blog about that tomorrow.
Today was nice. We dressed in red and went to church where we make a big deal of celebrating Pentecost -- for those for whom that's Greek (actually, it probably IS Greek!) -- the day that the early church received the Holy Spirit in "tongues of fire," so that people speaking all different languages could understand one another. Happy songs and red balloons. I also wrote my friend Stacey's name in the prayer book, which my pastor (who is my dear friend AND a breast cancer victor) read to the congregation, to ask for their ongoing prayers, and I hope that's OK with my friend Stacey :)
After church, we met my in-laws for brunch (lot of eating!), then LG and I came home while Jif went with his parents to look at a model home in a retirement community they are considering. When Jif came home and told us they loved the place, LG and I had him take us back to look at it. It is only 5 minutes from us; they are now about 35 minutes away. It is a beautiful place, down-sized from what they now have, and on one level, which they now need.
I tried to take a nap, because I didn't sleep well last night, but I wasn't able to get to sleep today either.
Then I've been blog-surfing, and phoning family, and just hanging out and talking with LG and Jif. Oh, and once Biscuit R-U-N-N-O-F-T, and some nice neighbors brought him home, with a piece of twine tied to his collar.
Pretty quiet, domestic weekend. Now, to do my own nails, which I normally do (or more accurately, normally neglect to do), or go somewhere tomorrow to buy a manicure? We'll see. I'm boring myself to death. Next time I'll lie.

Dang-Sounds like a perfect day filled with sleeps, dreams and Tim Hortons. What I wouldn't do for a few Timbits right now.

Sharkey-working in the garden sounds wonderful. It is pouring with rain here so none of that for me and the roses are in trouble too. Must get to that. Yeah, really have to cut the hair shorted now that it is coming out in handfuls. Icky!

Merry Widow-FEEL BETTER SOON! I don't know -I've had pneumonia and it sucks mightily. Couldn't say which was worse. On antibiotics for it?

LBo-I bet loosing your lay in and having to drive in the new car wasn't too bad. Which one did you end up getting? Hugs to you and 1 and 2.

Misfit-lots of reading sounds wonderful. That is my favourite thing in the world. I have been doing that myself in between naps. So happy to hear you felt well enough to go for your fancy dindins.

whfropera-you work too hard! OMG! Poor you. But some kitty lovin' thrown in must have been nice. Thanks for the tune! How kind of you to think of me. I will go listen to it right now.

Susie-Wow! No rest for you either. What a busy day. It will be nice to have the folks closer by. Thanks so much for the prayers. It is very touching and I appreciate it.

I have been reading your blog for awhile and am glad that you have come out ahead in the vomit department. When my grandmother's hair came back in after chemo it came in very punk looking which thrilled my teenagers (boys) who thought that they had the best looking great grandmother.

You asked what people were doing today. I made strawberry jam with the most beautiful strawberries that I picked yesterday. The smell of them was glorious and the color of the jam is just a bright deep red; so red that it looks unnatural. Other than that getting ready for the end of the school year. I teach preschool - 34 children in 3 different classes and am now working on photo presents for each of them for the end of the year. Tomorrow's class is done. Only 26 more projects to go.

jar-thanks for commenting. The jam sounds amazing. I love jam. I don't know if my mom and I will get to our jam making this year with everything going on. Hopefully.

It got me some punky hair too but on the falling our side. I am really curious how it is going to grow back. Maybe pink?

You sound like a very caring teacher. We need more of you out there! The projects sound cute.

Fuel=all those motorbike buddies sound fun. You and your closest friends. What great memories. Werid but great. That they are so weird makes them that much memorable.
