You can use this to make your self-portrait until you get around to one:

They have all sorts of lovely hats, bandanas, etc.

Big hug, lady. Gentle, but big.

Hi there. I found you through Susie. I'm sorry you are going through this. My mom went through the same thing. She was at the end of stage 3/beginning of stage 4 when they found her breast cancer and also had inflammatory cancer on top of the invasive ductile carcinoma. After having agressive treatment and a double radical mastectomy, she has been in remission now for 3 years. My heart goes out to you and your mother b/c I've watched mine go through the same stuff. I was the one who shaved my mom's head when it came to be that time and it was very difficult for her. It is the most difficult thing for most cancer patients, from what I understand. And for exactly the reason you mentioned. Bless you and bless your mom for dealing with this disease. It's a bitch, pardon the French there. You have my support, well wishes, good thoughts and prayers.

If you ever feel a need to talk about it with someone who has been there as an ear for the other person, please drop me an email at nboedeke@gmail.com.

My friend Lisa has the same hopes about her hair, i.e. that it will grow back in gorgeous. Time will tell - hers is about half an inch long now and she looks truly punk rock and gorgeous. ~Laura (laura-flea at diaryland)

Probably not the Mom Poo's prefered debut as a hairstylist, but I bet she did a great job. Bless the Mom.

And blessings upon your head.

SUSIE-I went shopping today for scarves and hats. That Southpark thing is a riot. my bro turned me onto the very abbreviated first version of that. And I took your tag and went with it. Thanks for asking so nicely.

NIC-I am so sorry your poor mom had to go through all that. I am glad she is doing ok. By putting my story in my blog I am amazed how many people have gone through this themselves or with somebody they love. Thanks for your kind words and support. I will definitely email you if I need any info. Give your mom a hug from me, a Canca Sista.

LAURA-You just never know what will grow after chemo. It will be the first virgin hair since I was 13. I am a hair colour whore. And give your friend Lisa a hug from another Canca Sista too.

LBO-thank you for the blessings. Mom enjoyed it a little too much, I think. Watch out everybody. Scissor Happy Mom.

The Merry Widow-Thank you so much. I admire you right back. You are one strong lady too. You have seen this from the other side and I am not sure which is harder. My mom sure is upset by all this. Maybe more than me on some days.

HDL-OH YEAH! There will be some wiggage soon. As soon as I am feeling up to going to my local afro store.
